Women in Science: Celebrating Gender Equality at Salvatorelli-Moneta

On the 8th of March under the banner of Women and Science at the Salvatoreeli-Moneta in Marsciano, in the Institute’s Great Hall, an important event took place that combines the cultural and popular mission with attention to the promotion of gender equality. The Sandro Pertini Cultural Circle and the Omnicomprensivo, are the promoters of a series of conferences of high civic and cultural value, of which the one held on 8 March is a valid example. On the day dedicated to women, in fact, Professor Elisa Ricci, a lecturer at the University of Trento, who heads projects on artificial intelligence of international scope, was called upon as a speaker. She outlined the history of her discipline, noting the scarcity of women in academia even today, and explained the current scientific and social implications of her scientific group’s research. The Omnicomprensivo hosted the event as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 project ‘Schools for Gender Equity’, emphasising the importance of women’s voices in today’s science landscape. A student delegation of 16 to 19 year olds was present, who appreciated the speech, also from the discipline perspective, and took an active part in the debate. The Municipality of Marsciano, considering the initiative important for the community, was present with Deputy Mayor Andrea Pilati and the councillor for Culture.
