WHAT IS IT?

 

Schools for Gender Equity is a 25-months Cooperative Partnership in the field of School Education that involves six organisations from six European countries (Estonia, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Spain). The main aim of this project is to raise awareness among secondary school students of the importance of everyone’s active and empathic participation in promoting gender equity and eradicate gender-based violence through the development of literacy competence, critical thinking and creativity.

The main objectives of the project are:
‑To improve the key competences of teachers, other professionals and actors in secondary education to promote gender equity with a special focus on the eradication of gender-based violence;
‑To exchange experiences, good practices and methodologies between organisations from different European countries, in order to educate in gender equity at school;
‑To design an eBook with practical educational tools for teachers and other actors in the educational community to develop educational activities for raising awareness on gender issues;
‑To build a space for debate and reflection among students, teachers and other professionals in the field of school education on gender-based violence through the writing of micro-stories;
‑To create a network of organizations, active in the field of school education, that work for gender equity and the eradication of gender-based violence through the development of literacy competence, critical thinking and creativity.

Duration of the project: 01/12/2022 – 31/12/2024 [25 months]

The main activities are:
‑First Coordination meeting in Portugal;
‑Analysis in each country on gender equality and eradication of gender-based violence in secondary schools;
‑Initial presentation meeting of the project;
‑Meetings with stakeholders;
‑Comparative Analysis of the situation;
‑Identification and collection of good practices;
‑Collection of learning needs;
‑Seminar in Greece;
‑Creation of a Manual in English with practical tools to facilitate gender equality and gender-based violence education with secondary school students;
‑Implementation of the tools with students in each country;
‑Revision of the tools and the Manual, which is translated into the 6 languages of the partners;
‑Short story competition (one for each country of the project) for secondary school students, ending with a Public Reading Event;
‑Collection of the short stories that have been selected in each country for the Public Reading Event in an eBook in 7 languages;
‑Multiplier events in the project countries (except Spain, as it hosts the Final Conference);
‑Creation of a final video with graphic resources from the project;
‑Final Meeting and Conference in Spain.
