“‘Suoni di Donne’: Celebrating Women through Music and Stories in Marsciano”

On the evening of Friday, 8 March at 9.15 p.m., the concert “Suoni di Donne” (“Sounds of Women”) was held at the Auditorium “Chiara Badano” (OSMA) in Marsciano, featuring the female ensemble of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Marsciano performing on International Women’s Day. This event, now in its 11th edition, represents an important tradition for the townspeople, who always participate with enthusiasm and warmth. The intriguing musical selection, proposed in a wide range of genres and melodies, included pieces by Mozart, Puccini, and soundtracks from the films “The Greatest Showman”, “Flashdance” and “Pocahontas”, which alternated with stories of special and important women that offered non-trivial food for thought for the entire community. The Omnicomprensivo “L. Salvatorelli-B. Moneta’ of Marsciano attended and sponsored the initiative, recalling from the stage the importance of evenings of conume reflection and sharing on gender equality issues and the continuous educational work with which the school is committed, also through the international ‘Schools for Gender Equity’ project, to educate generations of more aware and respectful citizens. In attendance were the municipal authorities, in the person of Councillor for Social Policies, Health and Sanitation Manuela Taglia, and the local press.

The audience showed great appreciation for the recitations on the biographies of female characters still considered important symbols today: Olimpe de Gouges, Frida Kahlo, Pocahontas, not forgetting Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, whose dramatic story was inspired by that of a real woman.
