“Raising Awareness: Students and Teachers Visit Protasi Zois for Addiction Prevention”

On the 4th of June 2024, students and teachers of our school visited the offices of Protasi Zois which is the local centre of our city for the prevention of addictions. The psychologists and social workers of Protasi Zois presented to us the work they do with schools and more specifically about how they inform, through targeted campaigns, teachers students and parents about the dangers of addiction. They described to us how the development of psychosocial skills in young people can really help in preventing potential future addictions and they emphasised the role of the school and the family in developing such skills to their students and to their children respectively. At the end of the meeting we informed them about our participation in the Erasmus project. Since all of them were women, they showed sincere interest in our project. We then discussed about risk factors that relate directly to women when it comes to addiction. We also discussed the phenomenon that it is often women, namely mothers, that carry the emotional burden of their addicted children rather than fathers who are not engaged as much.
