“Raising Awareness on Gender Equality in Education at Erasmus Day 2023”

During the Erasmus Day event, from October 13, 2023, organized by the Vaslui County School Inspectorate, we carried out an activity to disseminate the results of the Erasmus+ project: “Schools for gender equity, which brought together 27 teaching staff, from Vaslui county, of which 19 teachers teach subjects of general culture and 8 teachers teach technical subjects. During the event we addressed the topic of gender equality in education which aimed to raise awareness of gender discrimination, encourage reflection on gender stereotypes and explore ways to create an inclusive learning environment. We made an interactive presentation, fostered a framework for open discussions, which gave participants the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and perspectives.

Attendees appreciated the opportunity to delve deeper into this topic and were excited about the tools and strategies presented for promoting gender equality in classrooms. There were also exchanges of good practices, through which participants highlighted the positive steps they are taking to support gender inclusion in their daily work. The impact at the local level was significant, with participants reporting a deeper understanding of how gender stereotypes can influence student aspirations, particularly in areas such as science and technology. The interest shown by the participants towards this theme generated both an immediate reflection and a longterm commitment to support an inclusive educational environment.
