Presentation of the project in the Representative Council of parents from Romania
On September 20, 2024, at the meeting of the Representative Council of parents in the school (organism in which each class appoints one representative) the Erasmus+ ”School project for gender equity” was presented. There were 28 parents, mostly women, from rural areas, with low education and culture level, aged between 35 and 50 years.
The objectives of the activity were as follows:
- Informing parents about the Erasmus project and its impact on pupils.
- Promoting gender equity in education and everyday life.
- Creating a space for discussion in which parents express their opinions and concerns.
After the presentation of the Erasmus project, its goals, activities and results achieved so far, the concept of gender equity was explained using examples from everyday life and education. Parents were given the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas about how they can support gender equity at home and in the community.
In the anonymous form applied at the end, the parents provided positive feedback appreciating the fact that the topic of gender equity was approached in an accessible and relevant way, the information has been well presented and useful in understanding the concepts and contribution they can make to promoting gender equity in the family. They also provided constructive feedback by suggesting providing more concrete examples on how to approach these topics in discussions with children, providing more resources on managing gender inequity situations in everyday life, organizing similar events that allow to deepen the subject.
