Romanian student promoting gender equity at the city hall

On August 12, 2024, took place the contest ”Mayor for a Day”. The purpose of the Contest was for every student from every high school in the town of Vaslui to propose a project for young people in the town. The winning project will be implemented by the city hall in the coming year. Each student was helped by a teacher, and the Technological High School Ion Mincu was represented by student Vanessa Ciubotaru. Her project was called Women’s Week: Voices and Visions and in her presentation she used statistics from the Manual and proposed the Short Story Contest as one of the activities.

Vanessa wanted to urge citizens to reflect on an extremely important and current topic: women’s rights, gender equity and appreciation for girls and women.

Vanessa won second place which means that some of her activities will be implemented. It was appreciated by representatives of the city hall, by teachers and students of the Ion Mincu high school, but also by the citizens of Vaslui when she received the award on stage in the city center.
