“Gender Equity Discussion at Omnicomprensivo Marsciano Library”

On 22 October, a beautiful initiative was held to talk about gender equity, a topic that is always of great interest. As part of the ‘Welcome Project’, the students of the first classes of the Omnicomprensivo ‘Salvatorelii‐Moneta’ went to the Municipal Library for a moment of debate and discussion. After a visit to the library, in the conference room dedicated to Luigi Salvatorelli, students read and commented on some short stories produced by current third year students as part of the international competition held at the school last March, part of the Erasmus+ KA2 project “Schools for Gender Equity”, co‐funded by the European Union. It was interesting to read and compare the stories of the students from all six participating countries, and all the teenagers were also involved and participated in the commentary and debate phase. Many of them also talked about films they had seen or books they had read, enriching the debate. The participants, teachers and students, found this moment very instructive, especially because the younger generations must grow up aware of correct behaviour, but also aware of the fact that talking, sharing feelings, asking for help, is sometimes the only way out of very difficult situations, and that we must not be afraid to speak out, because this can often save our life. The head of the Municipal Library praised the topics discussed, and found it very instructive and useful to organise readings open to all citizens to spread the culture of equity and to encourage all citizens to reflect.
