“Empowering Teachers: Gender Equity and Addressing Domestic Violence”
At the very beginning of the school year we were asked to carry out a seminar in a local Waldorf school and we used the opportunity to choose gender equity for our topic and have a discussion and a workshop with the Waldorf school teachers in order to raise awareness of the issues connected with gender equity. This time we focused on home violence and made an effort to discuss the reasons, consequences and solutions of the home violence. The workshop was carried out using non-formal methods like role-plays, which enabled the participants to put themselves in the shoes of the imaginary people in difficult situations. The activities were met with eagerness and enthusiasm. The feedback was positive and encouraging. The teachers reflected that they would like to use those methods (role-plays) on challenging topics in their own classes.
