“Promoting Gender Equity in Education: Chemistry Teachers’ Meeting in Vaslui”

During the annual county meeting of chemistry teachers in Vaslui — Negrești area, which took place on September 20, 2023, at M. Kogălniceanu High School. Teacher Balan Anca, presented the results of the Erasmus+ project: “Schools for equity gender”. 20 participants, chemistry teachers, were present at the event.

The objectives of the event focused on gender discrimination were met. The positive feedback confirms the achievement of the objectives and the beneficial impact of the event. Participants reported a deeper understanding of the issue of gender discrimination, which helps them to recognize and eliminate gender stereotypes in teaching. Informing and sensitizing teachers about gender discrimination in education, and particularly in the field of chemistry, focused on encouraging students of all genders to pursue careers in science by presenting successful female role models.

The open forum allowed participants to discuss, share experiences and find solutions to gender issues. The impact of the event was evident, with increased dialogues about gender equity in the community and schools, with many expressing a deeper understanding of gender issues and an increased commitment to promoting equality.
